Laser Components will discontinue production of cryogenically cooled
diode lasers in the middle IR range. For our long-time customers in
academic circles we will extend this offer to place one last order
until March 31, 2012.
The first PbSe lasers were produced in the late ‘60s; they
reached their technological heyday in the ‘80s and early
‘90s. Both the scientific fundament and the device concept for
high-resolution gas measurement technology via tunable diode laser
spectroscopy (TDLS) originated here.
We have accompanied lead salt laser technology almost 20 years and made
important contributions: increased reliability, demonstration of pulsed
operation at room temperature, and the construction of DFB lasers based
on lead salt technology.
The necessity of cryogenic cooling in single-mode operation has always
hindered wide industrial use. Consequently, TDLS did not achieve its
commercial breakthrough until used in the NIR range.
A list of lasers available in stock can be found on Laser Components‘ website.
