The communication forum “Mitglieder stellen sich vor - Members introduce themselves” organized by bayern photonics e.V. was a guest of Messe München GmbH on July 3, 2008. 19 of the 69 members of the optical technologies competency network in Bavaria took the opportunity of presenting their service spectrum to the more than 50 interested participants at the meeting.

The program included three high-quality presentations on the subjects of “News from science and research” and “Promotion of young talent”. Dr. Michael Schmidt from Bayerischen Laserzentrum GmbH gave a presentation entitled “Laser - State of the Art”. Dr. Thomas Weber from Toptica Photonics AG talked about “Blu-ray Disc - the latest technology: What's next?” In his presentation, “The Innovation League – a commitment for young talent in optical technologies”, Dr. Eckhard Heybrock from VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH presented the goals and intentions of this initiative of the optical technologies community.

Visitors also obtained information about the companies and used the opportunity to exchange ideas and maintain contact within the network.

This year's host of the annual general meeting and the subsequent communication forum of bayern photonics was Messe München GmbH, organizer of the world's leading trade fair LASER World of PHOTONICS. From June 15 to 18, 2009 the trade fair and the World of Photonics Congress will be presenting the latest products, applications and trends in optical technologies.
