Optical Technologies Conference
Messe München Hosts Technology Show to Kick Off the Innovation League of the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung

The Technology Show at the Optical Technologies Conference Gala to be held on February 5, 2008 in Berlin, Germany will demonstrate which fascinating technology industries will be able to tap into education, business, and science partnerships. Luminescent wallpaper, high-tech gadgets for James Bond, or solar technology for schools in Africa. Projects from prominent experts, among them, Jan Hofer, news anchor for ARD Tagesschau, will be presented. The Technology Show will be put on by the Messe München team that gave you LASER. World of Photonics...

Messe München has been organizing this trade show since 1973. Leading global companies and experts from the field of optical technologies are involved in it. Furthermore, the trade show has made it its job to get actively involved in promoting the next generation of innovators in optical technologies. Therefore, experts together with children and teens will conduct experiments at the trade show that will show how the medium of light has kept pace with our everyday life and how diverse the applications are that this technology makes possible.

Innovation league
Under the motto "the high-tech strategy of the federal government begins with the children," the Innovation League was created by the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) [Federal Ministry for Education and Research]. The 2008 OT Conference will kick off the new initiative. Partnerships between schools, companies and research institutes from optical technologies should reduce inhibition thresholds with regard to technology that are present among many students. The project work will additionally teach students which applications the technology makes possible, where they are used and which areas of application offer technical careers and how work is performed there.

Using the analogy of sports leagues, the name "Innovation League" symbolizes the international competition for the best innovations and the best minds. Therefore, as with sports, well-practiced teams, good trainers, specialists, sponsors, marketing and numerous partners are required.

As a kick-off for the Innovation League, numerous prominent figures from the industry will be playing in the league of the best: Jan Hofer, news anchor of the ARD - Tagesschau, Jochen Schümann, several-time Olympic medalist in sailing and America's Cup winner, Andreas Ottl, premier league soccer player with FC Bayern München, Hildegard Werth, science editor for ZDF and Stefan Schulze-Hausmann, presenter for ZDF/3sat. As mentors, they will be introducing the projects at the Technology Show to be held during the Gala event on February 5, 2008.

2008 OT Conference - Summit Conference of the German Photonics Industry
