As far as the international photonics industry is concerned, "LASER. World of Photonics China", which is being held in Shanghai, China from March 18 - 20, 2008, is a gateway to the rapidly growing Chinese market. German companies receive special subsidies from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Technology, giving them a unique opportunity to distinguish themselves as pioneers in optical technologies by participating in a special event known as "German World of Laser & Photonics" in 2008. Registration is still possible.
When it comes to optical technologies, Germany is a step ahead of other countries. One out of every four laser systems used for material processing comes from the Federal Republic. In the sector for medical technology, Germany is the second-largest exporter in the world. German companies will demonstrate this strength within the scope of "German World of Laser & Photonics" at LASER. World of Photonics China 2008, which is being held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The objective of this special exhibit is to showcase the performance capabilities of optical technologies "made in Germany" on a broad-based scale and to further strengthen the position of German companies on the Chinese market in the process.
"German World of Laser & Photonics" features a diverse program of events. German companies will showcase themselves on a joint platform in the exhibition area, and universities and research institutes will introduce themselves at an information center. There will also be special shows focusing on key applications for optical technologies such as semiconductor-based lighting or manufacturing.
This special event addresses visitors attending LASER. World of Photonics China 2008. It also addresses university representatives and college students in programs that deal with optical technologies in an effort to promote the exchange of information at the scientific level. A special symposium will shed some light on the latest hot topics such as semiconductor-based lighting, the life sciences and materials processing with special emphasis on solar technology.
As a special highlight, "German World of Laser & Photonics" also includes a reception for German and Chinese companies and photonics experts, which is being hosted by the German General Consul in Shanghai, Dr. Albrecht von der Heyden.
"German World of Laser & Photonics" is being organized by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Technology and AUMA (Association of the German Trade Fair Industry). It enjoys the support of trade associations including Spectaris and the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association. IMAG (International Trade Fairs and Exhibition Service), a subsidiary of Munich International Trade Fairs, is responsible for organizing the show.
Additional information and registration forms for "German World of Laser & Photonics" are available on the Internet at www.germanworld-laserandphotonics.de. Questions regarding participation and sponsoring opportunities should be directed to Claudia Weidner from IMAG (E-mail:
