Kailight Photonics announced the Beta release of two new 40Gb/s transponders, the K-Works TRAN-4400 and TRAN-4200, which are currently in trials with several major system vendors. Kailight also announced that it has received purchase orders for its K-WorksTM transponders from major systems vendors.

Kailight's K-Works family of optical modules are the industry's most advanced 40Gb/s transponders available in an industry-standard 300-pin MSA packaging. These compact modules set a new standard in price and performance, while offering new functionality currently not available on any existing 40Gb/s transponder. The K-WorksTM TRAN-4400 supports Duo-Binary modulation for long-reach optical networking applications, while the K-WorksTM TRAN-4200 provides a low-cost NRZ solution for client-side networking applications.
