JUNE 15, BIOPHOTONICS AND LIFE SCIENCES
Visions for future diagnostics - Laser based photon and particle beams for medical applications

Monday, June 15 / 2:00 pm–4:30 pm
Photonics Forum Hall B1, Stand 159

Chairmen: Dr. R. Sroka, Dr. H. Stepp, LIFE Center, University Clinic Munich
Lecture language: English

The highly brilliant x-rays generated by an ultrashort, well-focused laser pulse are an ideal source for new types of x-ray diagnostics in medicine: X-ray phasecontrast imaging (PCI) can distinguish between different kinds of soft tissue. In addition, the high photon density can also be used for fibre-based high resolution endoscopic imaging for minimally invasive diagnosis.

2:00 pm

Prof. Dr. Karsten König, CEO, JenLab GmbH

2:45 pm
Visions for advanced treatment machines with integrated diagnostic features for radiation therapy of cancer patients
Prof. Dr. Jan Wilkens, Leader of the MAP Junior Research Group, Advanved Technologies in Radiation Therapy, Department of Radiation Oncology, Technical University Munich

3:10 pm
