The modular mini factory ProFaM can be applied for manufacturing high-precision fibre and micro optical systems. With a novel system of plug&produce capable production units, the desk-top factory permits a fast and flexible reaction to product or version change. It is therefore qualified for a cost-effective production of small and medium-sized series.

The different process steps like assembly, fibre packaging, laser adjustment and quality control are integrated into separate modules. An appropriate transport system with workpiece mounts ensures the connection of the modules and the transport flow between them. The system technology can be used in clean room environ-ments. ProFaM provides a solution for manufacturing high-precision products even in manual or partly automated working environments.
