Industrial producer prices stable in euro area -- Up by 0.2% in EU25

The euro area industrial producer price index remained unchanged in November 2006 compared to October 2006, while EU25 prices increased by 0.2%. In October prices remained unchanged in the euro area and gained 0.3% in the EU25.
In November 2006 compared to November 2005, industrial producer prices rose by 4.3% in the euro area and by 3.7% in the EU25.

Monthly changes
In November 2006, compared to the previous month, prices in total industry excluding the energy sector rose by 0.1% in both the euro area and the EU25. Prices in the energy sector fell by 0.3% in the euro area, but increased by 0.4% in the EU25. Intermediate goods gained 0.1% and 0.2% respectively. Capital goods increased by 0.1% in the euro area and remained stable in the EU25. In both zones durable consumer goods remained unchanged. Non-durable consumer goods fell by 0.1% in the euro area and remained stable in the EU25.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were registered in the United Kingdom (+1.2%), Slovakia (+0.4%) and Finland (+0.3%). The largest decreases were recorded in Denmark (-2.0%), Greece and Hungary (both -0.5%). Prices in Germany, Spain, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Portugal and Slovenia remained unchanged.

Annual changes
In November 2006, compared to November 2005, and excluding the energy sector, industrial prices increased by 3.5% in both the euro area and the EU25. Prices in the energy sector rose by 6.9% and 4.4% respectively. Intermediate goods gained 6.2% in both the euro area and the EU25. Capital goods increased by 1.9% in the euro area and by 1.8% in the EU25. Durable consumer goods rose by 1.7% and 1.6% respectively, and non-durable consumer goods gained 1.6% in both zones.
Prices increased in all Member States for which data are available. The highest increases were observed in Luxembourg (+15.6%), Hungary (+9.4%) and Finland (+6.1%), and the lowest in Ireland (+0.2%), Denmark (+1.2%) and the United Kingdom (+1.3%).
