CLEO®/Europe-EQEC has a long tradition of reflecting European strengths in both pure and applied research in optics and photonics. CLEO®/Europe emphasizes applied physics, optical engineering and applications of photonics and laser technology in fields including ultra-fast science, source development, fiber optics, nonlinear optics, high-field physics, optical telecommunications, optical materials etc. EQEC, on the other hand, emphasizes more basic research in laser physics, nonlinear optics and quantum and atom optics. This combination creates a unique forum where participants can obtain informative overviews and discuss recent advances on a wide range of topics, from fundamental light-matter interaction and new sources of coherent light to technology development, system engineering and photonic applications. CLEO®/Europe-EQEC targets university and industry scientists and researchers as well as students and graduates.
