FKM, the Society for the Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition
Statistics, was founded in 1965. It made the comparability and
reliability of trade-fair statistics one of its basic principles right
from the start.
It developed uniform rules for the collection
of exhibitor, space and visitor statistics as well as for visitor
profiles and allows compliance with the rules to be monitored by a
public accountant. After all, for an exhibitor or visitor, serious
planning is only possible if they can be sure that existing data has
been collected over time and in comparison with other trade fairs
according to uniform definitions. For example, if you do not know how a
trade fair organizer counts the numbers of visitors or whether specific
quality standards are observed when conducting visitor surveys,
statistical material must be treated with caution.
Each year
almost 70 organizers of some 300 trade fairs and exhibitions are
subject to audits by FKM. LASER World of PHOTONICS is
also evaluated by FKM.
